What I Got Up To This Month (December '25)

Hard to believe it, but 2025 is at an end. I've said this a couple times in these monthly posts, but I'm not quite where I wanted to be at by the end of the year. With that said, I'll acknowledge that I've made a lot of personal progress and, generally speaking, I feel like a more confident person than I was this time last year. I've had a lot of time to reflect on stuff but I do think I've made some great strides in some regards, at least. In the past month I've started wearing makeup and that's been fun. If I'm being honest, I haven't played a ton of stuff this month, but focusing on myself and, like, my personal appearance has been nice. While I'd planned on using this time to get to 2025 games (and other things) I'd missed, I haven't done a whole lot of note. I got sick a week or so ago and that kind of laid me out for a bit and didn't help matters, so, suffice it to say, this may be a shorter update than usual.

I did play the game Pseudoregalia this month, at least. It is a very well-made indie platformer with some exceptional movement and mechanics that made it a joy to navigate, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants something to scratch the same itch as, say, Super Mario Odyssey. I may have more to say about it in the near future.

I suppose I also picked up Kirby Air Riders at the end of last month and I've been playing a bit of that and, dang, that game is a lot of fun. It's a very maximalist game with a ton of UI and an insanely fast pace, but it's quite unlike most other kart racers I've played, if you can even call it a kart racer. I've always liked Kirby and I was surprised by how much it tickled me to see some of these characters again. Who knew I cared for the villain of Squeak Squad this much?

I feel like the only other game I've been able to play during this haze of being sick has been Fortnite. It's a game I feel conflicted about pretty often (the inclusion of some Harry Potter skins recently is, uh, Not Great) but, dangit, it's a ton of fun and it's something I don't need to think about too much when I play it. I even played a bit of Rocket Racing and remembered that I kind of enjoyed that, simple as it may be.

I still haven't started Kurohyou 2 so it's another month without any Yakuza progress from yours truly. It's not that I don't want to play Yakuza (I do!), but I've been wanting to play some other stuff and focusing so intently on these games during this year has meant I've not gotten around to some stuff I also wanted to play. All this does mean I don't have anything new to put in for an image this month so, uh, here's a Kiryu Mii that I made back when I made last month's Akiyama one.
